  Our Choirs and Musical Teams  

Adult Choir  The Adult Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Brenda Hetzel, and worship leader, Mrs. Laura Surface, provides anthems, leads the congregation in hymns, and on occasion, performs special cantata performances for holidays.  Approximately 22 members and the accompanist, meet on Wednesday evenings for rehearsals at 7:30 pm.  They participate in the Panhandle Association Choirfest and enjoy annual Christmas caroling to area facilities.

Praise Team:  The Praise Team (Praise Band) at First Baptist started in the fall of 2000 adding a new dimension to the worship experience by including the very popular contemporary Christian music style.     The faithful  service by our team members have enhanced the worship experience for all during the worship services.    Current members of the Praise Team include: Fred Surface (Percussion), Bill Frank (Bass Guitar), Aryelle Delgado (Violin and electric violin), Laura Surface (keyboard and acoustic guitar), and vocalists Ken Gainer, Debbie Smith, Linda Gaus, and Brenda Hetzel.  They bring a mix of contemporary, praise choruses, and traditional hymns to the worship experience.

Joysong: The ladies quartet began as a trio in 1995 at First Baptist Church, with women who just desired to praise and worship the Lord together through song.  As members have left and become missionaries to other churches in different states, new singers have arrived.  The group currently consists of Laura Surface (soprano and group leader), Linda Gaus (soprano), Charity Shereda (alto), and Gretchen Wright (alto).  They occasionally sing during the worship services and for special functions at the church.  They also enjoy singing at the Ohio Valley Mall once a year for the annual "Faith Walk", a fundraiser for Faith Community Christian High School in Belmont, Ohio.  They enjoy singing praise and worship songs from the Women of Faith conferences, as well as other songs for special occasions.

Participating Choirs were Agape, Dallas Pike, New Martinsville, Pine Grove and Wheeling.
