MISSION OUTREACH
One of the
major focuses we have at First Baptist Wheeling is on our "Mission Outreach."
We support many mission programs, from internally, to throughout the state of
West Virginia, to reaching out all over the world. We feel honored to have so
many members of our congregation willing to go out into the world to do
missionary work. From those who do service projects for a week, to those
who in recent years have traveled to places including but not limited to Zambia,
China, Venezuela, Bolivia, Russia, Greece, Ireland, Chicago, Alaska,
Mississippi, and Louisiana. Many of our college students have participated
in extensive Mission trips to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We
have many from our congregation with ages from the teens to our senior adults,
who are not hesitant to go out and do physical labor and service projects of
love when called to do so.
Not only do
we go out to do service in the Mission field, but we offer mission outreach
inside our own church as evidenced by the AWANA children's program and Vacation
Bible schools which bring in children not always members of our church to
participate. We sponsor and present revivals - a mission outreach to all
who so richly benefit from the associated events, prayer, and worship
experience. We have a wonderful college outreach program that enables
those who attend our local colleges a place to feel welcomed and to worship
freely. Many of our college students who we partner with are international
students far away from their home countries.

Shawl Ministry - Mission
F.B.C. Prayer Shawl Ministry seeks to
honor and glorify God by returning the gift of knitting (Crocheting,
sewing) He gave us, using this talent to serve His purpose. We knit our
prayers into these shawls so that they may radiate God's unconditional
love to the person who will receive it, bringing warmth, comfort,
encouragement, joy and celebration. Please contact the church
office, Pat Oliver, or Nancy Holt for more information or questions
about this newly formed group.
